What can you do to help?
Garden Centers are vital to spreading the word and helping the community with bee conservation. Besides selling a variety of flowers, important to bee survival, garden centers reach a large portion of the community. We hope that with these resources you will be able to make your garden center as bee friendly as possible.
WHere to start
Spreading the word is important for helping bees. These fact sheets break down the problems facing bees and are perfect for hanging above checkout counters or entry ways. Keep your customers informed!

Pesticides are a major component in the plight of the bees. If you have plants in your store grown without the use of pesticides, label them! If you can, section off a part of your center for pesticide free plants. Then hang up a pesticide fact sheet so people know what it's all about. Encourage people to create a section of their garden with pesticide free plants that are friendly to bees.

Do you sell native plants in your garden center? If you do, label them! Let people know why native plants are important and encourage them to plant some. Use these Xerxes Society native plant sheets to help people identify native plants that are good for bees.

Everyone can do their part
Encourage those who come to your garden center to take a stand and support the global movement to save the bees. Set an example by donating native plants to a community garden or taking pictures and documenting the bees you see around the garden center. Anyone can change the world and saving the bees is a good way to start.
